So a few days ago i drew art for bluejbird's fic "Life in the rock ('n') roll pool". Today i had a day off and this happened!

Photobucket

The shark is Travie, the jellyfish is Bert, the guppies are the cab babies, the seahorses surrounded by babies are Brendon and Spencer, Jon the seahorse next to Nick the sponge and Tom the seahorse.  The clownfish are Mikey and Gerard and the damselfish is Alicia.  Just incase anyone was wondering!  ;)

Art for the sequel Finding Emo  I've said it once, i'll say it again.  Read it!!!

Edit  My cats life... So hard!

Photobucket Photobucket

I think it's safe to say he's happy in his new home!

so go find a story that doesn't have art and draw some for it. I don't know an author alive (myself included) that would turn that shit down. :D

also...SPENCERKITTY

You have a point! I'll contact the mods and see who doesn't have any art and see if I can come up with anything.

Isn't he precious! He's settled right in!

*SQUEAKS*

I love love LOVE how realistic your drawing looks! GUUUUUUUUUURL, YOU'VE GOT SOME MAD DRAWING SKILLS!

:D:D:D

But really, I like the little details here and there, especially on the guppies because I used to have some of those same exact guppies when I was younger and I know how *shimmery* their tails can be and it's really startling how you can transfer that kind of imagery onto paper with just a pencil :D

Also! Adorable cat, I find it *SO* amusing that he's using the laptop adaptor AC thingamajig as a temporary pillow XD

Wow... thank you! Its only realistic because I cannot cartoon to save my life, I have respect for gerard with reguards to his cartoon skill cos that shits hard.

Im glad the guppies worked, I wasn't sure, I've never seen them in real life I don't think.

Im glad I did this one with just pencil, im not too comfortable with colour, I like shading better.

That kitten is just crazy, cute but crazy!

You're welcome :D

About the method of drawing thing, I guess there are some people who find it easier to draw realistically and there are others who find it less difficult to draw stuff in a cartoon-like manner. For me, I can't draw anything. At. All.

XD

Well, up close, guppies are really sparkly but anyway this (http://whatthepets.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-breed-perfect-guppies.html) is just a link to show you how vibrant they can get :D

Shading seems really difficult, like I'm always wondering in amazement at how people know where EXACTLY to shade, I think it's something to do with light and angle and the like plus you have to experiment here and there but I can't wrap my head around it XD

Aha, maybe you could create A LOLCATS macro out of the above photos of Spencer then!

You're right, i've never been able to cartoon; i could practice but theydon't look good and i get disheartened.

OOOH, i see what you mean about guppies being sparkly, they're nice!

Shading's not so bad, i always find it easier to place a light source and shade lighter where it would shine. i only ever took like 3 years of highschool art (then quit because i didn't like the teacher) so i have almost no technical knowledge.

HAAAA he could be used as a lolcat, he does some ridiculous things, like try and climb in the toliet, and lie in the bath. Silly kitty!

Well, if everyone could succeed Just. Like. That, I would be thinking there would be a lot more millionaires in the world (or maybe everyone would just be at an equal income level XD)

What I'm essentially trying to say here without the metaphorical nonsense that makes my head swirl at times is...If you really feel that you want to be somewhat/really skilled at drawing in a cartoon skill, maybe you just have to put in a more effort on top of what you've been doing and then BAM! You might get fantastic results :D

What may help too is looking for guides to cartooning and cartooning forums :)

Even though that might seem like a lot of work, don't get discouraged, 'kay? *HUUUUUUUGLES*

(Also! Maybe you shouldn't follow *every* guideline in the guides/forums about cartooning and come up with your own unique style, right? You could become WORLD-FAMOOOOOOOOOOOOSE for your own special brand of art!)

Aha, I think I remember reading something about the guppies needing some sort of special conditions so that their body can be *that* SPARK-LEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Thanks for the tip on shading :D I don't take art but I'll try what you've just told me about the next time I doodle or something :D:D:D

...Believe it or not, but I'm trying to think of a LOLCATS caption for that picture I mentioned XD

That is true! i really wanted to take some classes, but with two mostly full time jobs and a horse it's pretty hard to find the time. guides do sound like a good idea, i will have to look into that!

Oh if only i could be famous for something i actually enjoy, that would be pretty damn sweet.

ooh, guppies are just special!

LOLCATS... spencer needs to be a lolcat.

Dude. How are you even real? This is just amazing and I love it a ridiculous amount. You're so talented! Thank you so much for drawing this. Everytime I look at it, I can't help but grin a ridiculous amount. Bert! And Guppies! And the Dylans! And Nick and Jon and Tom and god, EVERYTHING.

It makes me want to write more and more stories in this 'verse, just to see if you'll draw more awesome pictures for me!
